Description

Early on the morning of December 7, 1941, the Empire of Japan launched a massive surprise attack on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. Two brief and terrible hours later, much of the American fleet lay sunk or burning; 2,388 Americans were dead; and the United States and Japan were at war. Dozens of children witnessed this pivotal moment in history. And hundreds of young servicemen--both American and Japanese--came of age on this unforgettable day. Now, for the first time, their show more gripping eyewitness accounts are woven together in a powerful retelling of the events at Pearl Harbor. show less

I love reading about World War II. This is the first book I have read on Pearl Harbor. This book is a childrens/young adult book. I found the pictures fascinating. Some were actual pictures and others were exceptionally drawn.

Attack on Pearl Harbor has the view point of the Japanese and their planned attack. You also learn about some of the people that were there when the attack happened. I nice enjoyable short book.

Readers learn about the Pearl Harbor attack through the eyes of Hawaiian civilians, sailors, and Japanese soldiers. Very readable-not a dry recitation of facts.
This is the bible on the bombing of Pearl Harbor for Elementary School students. Loaded with primary resources and photographs, maps, and first hand accounts this book has it all without being too much for the Middle School student. The Pearl Harbor event is told in a narrative format creating a memorable story which is a helpful format for many students to remember. Every page has a large section dvoted to supportive illustrations or photographs to support the story. The resource also includes a Glossary, index, and a list of additional resources for students. Grades 6-8
