It's not about the drugs. It's not about the girls or the fights or the fading streetlights. It's about two nights that weren't going to be different from the rest, but then took a turn. It's about trying to find out who you are and who your real friends are. It's about everything being the same, the same, the same. It's about nothing being the same again. It's about Brendon, WIll, and Kevin -- three friends on different paths -- and the weekend that put them to the test.… (more)

Last year I read Perfect World by Brian James. And it changed my life. So I eagerly have been hunting down some of his other novels. Unfortunately Pure Sunshine disappointed. Maybe I just had my standards to high. The story was easy enough to get into and it had me turning pages at a reasonable pace right to the very end. But it didn't really have a point or some greater story. It was like coming in at the middle of a show watching fifteen minutes and then leaving so you miss the ending. You're able to immerse yourself for the time being but never really get the whole story. Disappointing effort. ( )

book started out with some promise. THen never seemed to develop. Keep waiting for something to happen and then there was a fight amoung friends and that seem to be it. Not a how lot going on with a lot of detail about the nothingness going on. ( )

A good quick read.

I've never really forgotten certain parts of it. ( )

This is one of my other favorite books. On one hand it is about drug use, but on the other it's not. It's about a guy trying to figure things out, and who can't relate to that? ( )
