It was rather dry compared to A Yorkshire Boyhood, which (as the title of that suggests) is part of Hattersley's autobiography. It's also very dated, as one might expect. Part guide and part autobiography, this book by the politician Roy Hattersley describes the county of Yorkshire. As the county of his upbringing and object of his loyalty, the author uses a selection of his own essays to describe the history of towns and cities like Sheffield, Barnsley, Leeds and York.
