Oddly confusing mishmash of a story from OSC. Perhaps if I'd read the first volume of Ultimate, I'd have had an even better idea of what to expect. ( )

I liked volume 1 of this series quite a bit. There was quite a drop off in quality as we reached volume 2. The first thing that is really notable is how dreadful the art is in this one. Andy Kubert did volume 1, and it was wonderful, as Kubert so often is. But Pasqual Ferry's creepy style makes everyone look like wax figures.

The story is forgettable. Iron Man himself isn't very interesting, so he cannot keep the plot afloat. Overall, this one is a big disappointment after the promise of the first volume. ( )

I didn't find this collection to be particularly interesting. Picking up where volume 1 left off, Tony Stark's father is in jail, having been framed for a murder he didn't commit. The government is also interested in Tony's "giant robot" and won't take no for an answer when they request his help. Throw in an arms dealer/terrorist and a sociopath, and that's the gist of the story. The "twist" wasn't original, and I saw it coming a mile away. Basically, I think this collection (both volumes 1 and 2) don't add anything essential to the Ultimate version of Iron Man. ( )
