A large collection of many photographs of Walker Evans, laid out by year. Excellent presentation and narrative about one of our greatest photographers.
Walker Evans is een Amerikaanse fotograaf die vooral bekend is geworden door de foto's die hij gemaakt heeft tijdens de jaren van depressie in de Verenigde Staten (1935-1939) in opdracht van de FSA (Farm Security Administration). "The hungry eye" geeft een breed overzicht van het werk van Walker Evans. De meeste foto's lijken op snapshots, alsof er bewust voor is gekozen om niet al te veel te letten op de esthetische kwaliteiten van de foto's. Er staan in dit boek weinig foto's die me echt aanspreken. Nadeel van dit boek is ook dat de afdrukken van de foto's nogal in klein formaat zijn.
