Randomly remembered reading this book when I was little, and had to buy a cheap copy for the nostalgia! On an anthropomorphic level, poor wolf, but as a life lesson for young girls - stay clever, Polly, and keep the obnoxiously persistent wolves from the door!
Does just what it says on the tin: the bad wolf is dumb and the little girl is precocious. Meant for quite little ones, but also I think it hasn't aged very well.

It started off funny, but became rather tedious after a chapter or 4....
Had this on audio cassette as a kid and loved it. I wonder if I still do have it somewhere though?
