This book provides readers with a brief overview of Scottish border history, including information on major clans in the area. The author gives a good overview of life during Medieval times in the area. He addresses the importance of abbeys and the church during the period. Footnotes and an abbreviated bibliography (which lacks all the elements of modern citation requirements but which can probably still help the reader locate the book) provide readers with additional resources for further study. This book provided unexpected pleasure in its usefulness to genealogical research for the region.
