Even though animals don't normally wear glasses, cook, or read, if you use your imagination you can see them doing these and even more fantastic things.

I really enjoyed the pictures in this story. The story is enhanced by the pictures with all the vibrant colors and creative things the author has the animals doing. This book made me laugh a lot just imagining animals doing these actions. It is very light hearted and an easy read. I found myself wanting just a couple more animals though at the end of the story, but I think it ended in an appropriate and fun manner. ( )

I found this book to be really silly! It talks about silly things that animals can't and don't do. Some of the silly things that the animals try and do are: a zebra tries to cook, a horse trying to hang glide, and a llama trying to buy clothes. This book, like many of Numeroff's others, has a rhyming pattern throughout the story. This will help kids to better learn how to sound out words and to also make connections to different words that may sound the same. I think kids will really enjoy the illustrations because they are funny and give examples of the things that animals can't do. This book can also be used as a great interactive read aloud for younger kids. ( )

This book was cute but I felt like there wasn't really any character growth in it. The theme was a little hard to pick out because what I got from the book was what animals can't do. At the end of the book we find out that there is no right answer to any parts of the book. The last page expresses that the whole book is a dream, but it is our dream. The book is a way for children to think about different animals and the things that they do. The book shows human activities but animals doing them. There really isn't a real message to this book. The book is more for children to get enjoyment out of it. ( )
