Cindy doesn't like school and skips every chance she gets. She believes that she is ugly and stupid. Her mother is too busy with a job and a demanded boyfriend, Raffie, to notice her. When Bobby, who beat up Cindy’s friend when they were dating, shows Cindy some kindness and attention, predictable trouble follows. Cindy, who is lonely and feels unloved, takes up with Bobby, despite numerous warning signs. He convinces her that he is off drugs and has “changed.” The book portrays in a simplistic but engaging way, that the need for love, both by Cindy and her mom, blinds them to their boyfriends’ flaws. I think that this was a great book. Although it was fiction, it really gave you a better understanding of what it may be like for kids in high school. You learn a lot of valuable lessons from this book. I think it would be a great book for incoming freshman to read.

this book is alright...its kindof sad because her mother doesnt pay attention to her an she is all alone.but then everthing comes together for her an her mother

great book.shows real teenagers problems and how they can get thourgh it.this book is a must read.and will keep you on the edge of you seats until the end.

Cindy is a girl who has problems, who lives in a bad neighborhood with violence and drugs. Bobby Wallace also lives their he is supposedly Cindy's boyfriend and loves her she thinks he is the great thing ever when that goes wrong. Jamee is Cindy’s best friend who cares about her and love her. Mrs. Davis is an old women who show more also cares about her and what she does. Harold is Mrs. Davis grandson who goes to Bluford High he is Cindy’s friends. Cindy who doesn’t have anything to live doesn’t have no one who loves her. She has a mother but she only cares about how she looks for her boyfriend and the most important thing is her boyfriend Raffie who Cindy doesn’t like and think he is bad for her mother. While she has that problem Cindy doesn't go to school doesn’t care about her grades and her friends well the only friend that she has and could trust and tell them how she felt and she knows they won't judge her. He two cats named Theo and Cleo .this story takes place in Bluford High and in Cindy's apartment. I recommend this book because if you are the person who likes love stories and people trying to find out who they really are then this story is good for you show less
