This was an absorbing account of a life well-lived in an era long since past. In 2022, Dame Frances Campbell-Preston, a former lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, passed away. I read her obituary and discovered she'd written an autobiography. I set out to find a copy and this proved harder to do than you might think. When it arrived, I started reading, and I couldn't put the book down. Yes, her forty years as lady-in-waiting are covered, not overly so, but the book is so much more than that. It's the story of family relationships, WWII hardship, love, loss, and a full life that spanned a century.

Highly recommended. ( )
