Some of the best books for dads and children are the ones that encourage affectionate play between them. This can make reading before bedtime a fun time, which is good for both dads and kids after a long day. It can also help forge emotional connections between them on a daily basis, which can sometimes be a challenging task for fathers. Daddy Hugs is a great book for this purpose, and one which is appropriate for infants as well as young children.
The book begins with the arrival of Daddy in his baby's room, and he proceeds to hug his baby with all kinds of hugs numbered from one to ten (“eight dancing on daddy's feet cha-cha hugs”) as they get ready for bed. The large, colorful illustrations will be engaging for both infants and show more young children, and the text encourages closeness between fathers and kids while also teaching basic counting skills. This book has brightly-colored, engaging pictures that will attract the reader's attention. It is longer than some of the other book I've seen aimed at this age, but not overly long. The book itself is about the different kinds of hugs that a father might give a child. As well, each page is numbered 1-10. When all of these features are combined, I think that this work would engage children in the 1-3 age range.
This tells us how a dad with a simple hug keeps his baby safe. It also depicts how parents care for their children. This could be done with a simple game og hide and seek, peekaboo, to kiss and make it better. Finally, dad has his son felling safe and this means that a trust factor has ben developed.
