Give someone a lift! Following a series of misadventures trying to get to Nauvoo on an airplane with several nieces and nephews, Sheri Dew writes that she was ready to scrap the trip and just go home. A simple statement by her niece restored her perspective: "Aunt Sheri, if life were easy, it wouldn't be hard." The fact is, life is hard - but that's okay. If we learn to turn to the Lord, he can make our burdens light. Distinguishing between burdens (the stuff mortality throws at us) and baggage (the junk we elect to pick up on our own) can help ease our way. So can a correct understanding of basic principles like charity and chastity. This road map to some basic truths about life will make you feel better - even on hard days!… (more)

Let's just say that the last month has been rough and this book was exactly the talking to that I needed. ( )

Full of great practical applications of spiritual principles. Contains my favorite story of distinguishing those who are opponents because of differing principles and experiences, and those who are enemies of all values: when you cross them, they get mean. (reading dates approximate; review from copy 1). ( )

For a brief little book, it packs a good-sized amount of stuff in here. I liked the anecdotes from her own life that she shared. I also liked the reminder that life is a test - but it's an open book test, and we are supposed to ask for the answers.

My favorite quote - "A change in behavior is not enough--we must have a change in nature." 4.5 stars ( )

One of the most influential books I have ever read. I recommend this book in conjunction with Believing Christ for anyone wanting a better understanding of how to apply to atonement into their lives. ( )
