This is a wonderful story, rich in drama and emotion. Shana Abe does a great job of portraying two people, bound by a common enemy but divided by loyalties, who find themselves sharing a forbidden attraction. The depth of their feelings is craftily framed within the subtlety of Abe's writing. The love, the fear, the need in these characters are all completely believable. In short, this is a beautiful romance.
So-so Scottish medieval romance with a Romeo and Juliet theme. Daughter of slain laird tries to resist the mutual attraction to an English earl who shares an island their feuding families are fighting for while trying to fend off Viking raids. Not bad, but barely kept my interest
