Kehret sure does have a knack for these tween thrillers. She writes so engagingly that I, who am not at all interested in reading about children in peril, love them. And she gives kids ideas of what to do if they do ever find themselves in any sort of a real life situation, including telling an adult.
I love the dilemma here that Ginger faces on behalf of a beloved teacher/coach. And the insight into the mind of the 'bad guy.'

This novel included a very intruiging plot...suspense from the very first sentence to the last. It was not overwhelmenghly scary and good read for middle school readers. The resolution of the sub-plot of a school basketball coach's job in question made for an inspiring ending.
I started reading this book because the premise sounded interesting, but the more I got into it, the more I didn't like it. It is well-written and others might enjoy it, however.
Typical Kehret suspense fare: easy, not too scary or complicated.
