Too young for me. A cute portal-and-quest adventure, with six different protagonists all of whom are necessary to the solution. Mildly interesting to read once, not worth rereading (again, for me). It starts awkwardly, with introductions "written" by each girl - which shortcuts any real character development or relationships. ( )

Seems to be geared to preteen girls, with its theme of ordinary girls being called Princess in the alternate world they explore. They each discover their special talent that will be needed to restore magic and life energy to the people of this world (and to return home themselves).
I picked this up originally thinking to give it to my granddaughter, but after reading it decide not. ( )

Book description
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN SIX ORDINARY GIRLS ACCIDENTALLY OPEN A SECRET DOOR INTO ANOTHER WORLD?

It doesn't take long for adventure - and danger - to find them. Their quest brings them face-to-face with gigantic grizzly bears claiming to be guardians and protectors, green-skinned folks offering magic and help , a scaly river dragon, killer plants and monster-sized spiders -things none of the girls expected to face in their summer adventures! And to top it off, they are supposedly the long-awaited princesses who have to use their special powers to restore the magic in order to get home.

Will they master their new powers in tome to turn back the dark forces that want to trap them forever?
