Description

A New York Times Bestselling Author From the moment he laid eyes on the White Knight, Lionheart was determined to best him. He'd been ordered to take Cragdon Castle, and that slim young warrior on the pure white steed led the defending forces with a skill and daring the challenged his own prowess. Lionheart swore he would soon have the White Knight beneath his sword and at his mercy. But, storming through the battered portcullis, he found only a beautiful maiden awaiting him in the hall . . .

Lionheart is more like a 'Medieval Lite' than a standard medieval romance. The hero talks like a typical medieval hero at times, but doesn't really follow through on any threats. He is a kinder, gentler version of an alpha hero. One beef I had is that sometimes his language was too modern for the 13th century, when he used terms like "making love". There is some controversy over the wedding night scene, but it didn't strike me the way it did some other readers. There is no cheating, which is a bonus for me. The second half of the book was better than the first, in my opinion. Initially, I didn't think I would like Lionheart as much as I did. 4/5 stars.

"Who is the knight who led your men in battle?" Vanora shrugged. "Cragdon has many knights." Lionheart's patience dangled by a slim thread. He was unaccustomed to being thwarted, and never by a mere wench. Apparently, her fat... (show all)her had been too lenient and she had assumed a male's authority. He was going to enjoy putting her in her place.
