Would have been three stars, a serviceable bit of romantic erotica, right up to the ending. Two gross things: 1) The hero is forced to abandon the heroine by magic, and she responds by lying in bed all day in his old clothes, moping, for a YEAR. Until he comes back to her. Then she abandons her old life without a blink to live with him on his alien planet. and 2) The villainess's punishment is to be made into a pleasure slave herself, locked in a box and given to one of the minor male characters. He is later described as "glowing." Ew.

So basically, a book about drooling over an incredibly hot guy that incidentally has to involve women for self-insertion reasons but the author clearly doesn't think much of them.
Very fun read. Tristan comes from another world, a warrior, who is cursed to be a pleasure slave when he will not become the life mate or proclaim his love for a cruel sorceress. He’s trapped in a tiny box, forced to come out and pleasure whenever she wills. But the sorceress is overruled by a more powerful sorcerer, who hurtles Tristan’s box far away to another world, where he exists for centuries, pleasuring whatever woman controls the box. The only way for him to break free of the spell is to fall in love with a woman.

Julia buys the beaten-up box at a flea market. She’s an antique dealer in Sante Fe, a mid-20s rather plain girl who’s never been on a date in her life. When she opens the box and Tristan appears, she thinks show more she’s lost her mind. Once she comprehends the fantastic gift she’s received, she still doesn’t know what to do with him--except get him into some decent clothes.

Tristan is perplexed by this new mistress who treats him as an equal, and Julia quickly learns a number of lessons in sexual awareness.

Light and frothy for the most part, but funny and endearing. Good set up Tristan’s major conflict--if he admits he’s falling in love with Julia, he’ll break the spell and be sent home to live out the rest of his life without her. So, loving her means never admitting he loves her, and living with her means watching her age and die and one day getting a new mistress. Well done.

Can't help comparing this book to Kenyon's [b:Fantasy Lover|84136|Fantasy Lover (Dark-Hunter, #0.5 Prequel)|Sherrilyn Kenyon|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255575870s/84136.jpg|2384]. And after reading that book this one falls short. The whole alien aspect threw me off big time. Probably because I wasn't expecting it to go that route at all. I also found the ending a little unsatisfying especially the way Julia went all "but how can I live without him!" on us. I'm all for letting the heroine mope, but not when she decides she can't function as a human being without her man. So, I enjoyed the premise of this book but a quite a few plot twists left me dry.
Very much enjoyed this book, though it reminded me quite a bit of Sherilynn Kenyon's "Fantasy Lover." This book was satisfying, though I would like to have seen more character development on the part of the heroine that didn't just magically appear after she was exposed to sex for the first time. I'll definately read other books of hers.

I read a book with a similar premise that made this book pale in comparison. It wasn't horrible, but i was hoping to get more than i did.
"I know I did explain it in the best way ... but you get the drift .... 3 out of 5 stars. If you've read other of Gena's books then you should know it's written like that of her "Lords of the Underworld" series, with two stories written around each other. I do like how she wrapped up everything though, good ending."

Love genie in a box. The erotica was more fun than the fantasy subplot.
