In The Teacher, Kathryn answers an ad for a private teaching position on a ranch where she thinks she and her son will be safe from her vengeful ex's family; In Christmas Magic, Kim makes peace with her estranged father and falls in love too; in Jolly Holly, Isabel joins forces with John to win the berry picking contest, and both find love too; in If Only in My Dreams, Quinn finds a half frozen stranger on her doorstep and doesn't know whether he's friend or foe. I only read Jude Deveraux story and it was ok. So much focus on the conflict between the two that I wondered if they would ever get to the romance. Christmas also didn't come into play until the very end. Kathryn goes to Colorado to be governess for Cole's son.

Pretty sure I have a copy of this stashed away in a box somewhere, but grabbed this at the library as a seasonal treat. Five winter-themed stories revolving around finding happily ever after, often in unlikely places.

Deveraux's takes place in Legend, CO in the old west and features a teacher and her son making a desperate gamble. The other four are more contemporary. Howard's provides an element of suspense typical of her stories and was my favorite of the bunch, although Stef Ann Holm's Holly Jolly berry competition made me smile. ( )
