Description

They came from the darkest places: secluded monasteries, the Carpathian mountains, galaxies under siege. They were men with the blackest pasts-warriors, vampire monks, leaders of armies-but whose passions burned like dying stars. They had one purpose: to find those women who fulfilled them, completed them, and made them rage with a fire both holy and profane. They sought soul mates whose touch consumed them with desire, yet whose kisses refreshed like the coolest rain. And each man knew that show more for him there was only one true love-and in finding her, he would find salvation.

My Review:

This is my least favorite book from this author. This book was super horrible. While the plot aspects were interesting, I just couldn't stand the heroine at all. I only stuck with the story because of how involved this couple is in the series as a whole. The heroine was toxic and so feminist in a way that it turned me off. There were quite a few vibes of I am a woman and don't need a man and I can do anything a man can do type of behavior and in a paranormal where the heroine is human and the enemy is dangerous.....it really felt she wasn't the most intelligent of women lol She just ruined the book for me so much. This author has written more feminist heroines and I didnt have much issue with them. I just think the way her show more character was written wasn't the best. show less
This is a good short story and introduces important characters and series plot. It hasn't the depth of her novels, of course, but the quality of Christine Feehan's writing is still there, including excellent characters.
I really like this short story. I think I prefer her stories in this condensed form because it cuts out the redundancy of the Carpathians repeating how much his lifemate means to him. I also liked that Joie really was her own person and didn't fall into damsel in distress mode.
My first audio book experience and I learned some things about my ability to listen. The book was wonderful, Feehan's characters captivated as usual. Cook's voice was animated and brilliant in her interpretation of the character voices. Parts of this book seemed familiar, as if I had read it before but I can not for the life of me figure out why. oh well I still loved every minute.
Another novella - this one is just plain fun. FULL of action. Traian doesn't seem very deep, but his (strong and confident) lifemate and her family are great. This one is very important to the series arc, so should not be missed!

This is Traian and Joie's story.
Another piece in the puzzle. I actually listened to this (audiobook) at the same time as I read Dark Demon. It sort of helped as both books are set in the same caves - I was getting both audio and written descriptions. My one complaint was that I wasn't ready for the ending - it just suddenly happened. I thought there would be a few more 'ends' to tie up. (But it is a novella, so I can't really complain...)
I've read this before and I could have sworn it was longer, still an enjoyable reread. Ancient hunter and gifted human. I like that her family is so involved
