The Book of Abramelin: A New Translation

Description
The Book of Abramelin is the first modern translation of this magical work since Mathers' original translation over 100 years ago. Not only is the language updated, but Georg Dehn, the compiler and editor, has sourced his work from all extant manuscripts, while Mathers used just one. The result is a stunning new translation that has already set the occult world abuzz. It includes voluminous important material left out of Mathers' work, including an entire Part 2 filled with magical recipes, show more important distinctions in the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel ritual, and complete word grids that were only partially completed by Mathers. This is an essential work for any serious practicing magician or student of occult history. show lessTags

I have to say this is the best version of Abramelin I have seen; it seems that Mather's used a French text, rather then the German text. This text was originally written in German and translated from the German version, so this book contains more accuracy then Mather's version as a whole. I have to say I found it to be odd that Mather's had 350 squares, of which none were complete and contained a mixture of numbers and letters; but in this book all the squares are filled with the names of the unclean spirits. There is the first book which entails the Journey of Rabbi Moshes journey and the letters to his son Lamech, that reads almost identical to Mather's version. The Second Book contains the Kabbalistic formula that from Jewish show more traditions, butter, honey, and other very basic ingredients. The third book contains how the book works as a whole with the formula, especially with the unclean spirits. The 4th book contains all the squares that are filled with the names of the unclean spirits. This is one of my favorite grimoires and it is worth the purchase. show less
Der Autor vermutet, dass Mathers nicht sehr wissenschaftlich gearbeitet hat (Seite 26). Ich vermute, dass der Autor nicht sehr wissenschaftlich gearbeitet hat. Ich hätte mir mehr Abstand zur Sache gwünscht. Trotzdem lesenswert und gehört in jede Grimoire- Bibliothek.
