This has to be the best book I have read out of all of the books I have read for this assignment. Not only was the story line, and plot great, so were the images. The big idea of the story is brothers and family. Throughout the story the littlest brother gets picked on and feels left out by his dad and older brother. However, at the end of the story his mother finally brings home their newest sibling, and it is a boy! So the little brother who got picked on by his bigger brother finally now has a little brother himself! The children reading or listening to this story can learn that all big siblings can pick on or be mean to little brothers to sisters.
Summary:
Kevie is excited because his mom had a baby. He wants to know if it's a girl or a boy but daddy tells him it will be a surprise and that he will have to wait until mom gets home that evening. Daddy proposes for them them to make a good super for when mom gets back. the grandparents and cousins will come over too. Big brother Josh proposes pizza but that is not an option since they have eaten pizza for the past three meals. Kevie says mom make soup every Saturday and it is Saturday. So they start making the soup and everything Kevie says big brother Josh disagrees, laughs at him, or picks on him. They finally finsih the soup and something is wrong with it. Kevie tells them to add sugar but they don't agree until Kevie explains show more that it's mom's secret ingredient. This is when Josh figures that not everything Kevie says is wrong. Mom gets home with their new baby brother.

Comments:
Great illustration on big brother and little brother relationship. I think that many readers could relate to this story which will make them engage more in the story. I like the pattern that the story follows: when Kevie says something Josh disagrees.

A book about a bear family who is adding a new baby bear to the clan. A great story about kids who are going to be siblings and very relateable.
