The Lion and the Hare: An East African Folktale

In the Lion and the Hare by Stephen Krensky, a mean lion tries to take control of all the other animals around him. He is successful in this for a while and eats one animal per day for dinner. It isn't until a Hare decides something needs to change that the lion gets a taste of his own medicine. The Hare tricks the lion into thinking there is a second lion around that is stealing his food. The lion feels threatened and wants to find the other lion and settle the issue. The Hare leads the lion to a well and, seeing his own reflection in the water, the lion jumps down to fight and ends up drowning. The other animals go on to live happily.

The Lion and the Hare is a folktale about a mean lion that eats all animals on the grassland where he lives. All the animals live in fear of being eaten. One day the animals meet and make an agreement with the lion to provide him with just one animal a day for him to eat. The day the hare is chosen to be the lion's dinner he decides to trick the lion and save the grassland for all the animals. The main lesson from this story is no matter what your save and capabilities, if you are brave you can accomplish anything.
