A common term is "the new normal" which has come to mean continuing high levels of productivity with fewer resources. Viturally no campus is immune to reduced budgets and increasing student populations. The authors of this book suggest that now, more than ever, cross-campus collaboration is imperative to survive the reduced funding and increased demand of departmental, college, and university resources. They additionally suggest that most academic institutions are not structured in a way that facilitates or promotes such collaboration. The authors explore the challenges to collaboration, offer suggested fixes to the challenges and promote creative thinking in terms of how units can share limited resources.
