This volume was gross. I mean, it was so gory and bloody and violent that the previous two volumes don't compare. Folks get slashed in half and bitten into and smashed and blasted and endure every sort of injury a superhero can deliver. But it was also tightly written and had a lot of great suspenseful scenes. The opening itself is worth picking up the book for. I have to admit though, not a lot of A-list Marvel characters, but at this point, that's not a bad thing.

Plus, it introduced me to Machine Man, who seems like an interesting character to read a solo title about. I'm assuming be won't be in the Age of Ultron film, though, or else his casting would have been announced already. ( )

Apparently this takes place between the first two series, which is kind of disappointing. It's fun but definitely not essential reading. ( )

While not as good as other Marvel Zombies stories, the third in the series still has some fun moments, especially with the development of Machine Man's character. It helps get rid of some loose ends from the previous series as for leftover characters, but doesn't do much else, minus setting up the plot for the fourth installment in the series. ( )

This series is going downhill pretty fast. I loved the first trade of Marvel Zombies, liked the second one, but this one wasn't nearly as good as either of them. Whereas the first two were actually funny, this one is just about a robot with a chip on his shoulder blowing things up. The only moment I thought was remotely funny at all was when Black Bolt was prattling on because the necrosis caused by the zombie virus had destroyed the devastating effects of his vocal cords, and Fisk had to tell him to shut up. Even Deadpool wasn't funny, and that's just sad. ( )
