It's a good book to read in the fall or near Halloween. The pictures in the book are exciting along with great descriptive words used on all the pages. The story is very funny, imaginative and a great twist on the classic, Runaway Bunny that will surely interest all children. However it might scare some children if they're scared of mummies but the story ends on a funny note which I think will help children if they think it's scary.
When I read Goodnight Goon I thought that there couldn't possibly be a better book to grab the attention of a reluctant reader. Runaway Mummy has done it! I especially love the end where the Mummy mommy is disgusted by the idea of her baby joining a normal family and playing soccer. The bunnies in the picture are straight out of Runaway Bunny.

This parody of The Runaway Bunny is pretty cute (and the illustrations are fun, especially so near Halloween), but I liked Rex's Goodnight Goon even more!
This book follows a little mummy and his mother. She is chasing after him for bedtime. They go through several scenarios of what he could turn in to and what she would turn into to counter it.
This is a good example of science fiction because it deals with things that could happen in the future or in another world, not in real life and not simply one of fantasy. It is not a perfect example of science fiction but does contain the basic elements.

On the back cover of this witty sendup of “The Runaway Bunny” is a rabbit sphinx balefully overlooking a “mummy” chasing after a child. That pretty much sums up Rex’s comical take on Margaret Wise Brown’s tender classic.
