It's MY Birthday! by Pat Hutchkins teaches children about sharing through a story about a monsters birthday. It shows monsters asking to play with toys and being rejected but still having fun. The illustrations truly help tell the story and create characters that are memorable to the children. This book could be read in one sitting and would be a great topic of discussion for afterwards about sharing with friends. ( )

It's Billy's birthday and he is not interested in sharing his birthday presents with his friends. When his friends asked to play, Billy told them "No!" Billy came to realize that his friends enjoyed playing together and he was left to play by himself. When Billy got a game that needed more than one player so he asked his friends to play with him and realized how much fun it is to share. This is a good book for young children to show them the importance of sharing and how it is a good thing. ( )
