Loading... By the River (2004)by Steven Herrick
![]() No current Talk conversations about this book. I've added this book to my favourites. It is sublime! The story of Harry Hodby, his father and brother Keith living in a small town somewhere in Australia. The scenery is described in poetry like prose as they live, fight, play and work in their community along with a mix of likeable and unlikeable characters. Funny at times and also sad at others, I highly recommend this book. ( ![]() I didn't think I'd like this book. I was wrong - I loved it. Deeply moving. Life is hard here. Periodically the river rises and floods this little Australian town. A beautiful poem of a book. A fast paced read. A little deeper and heartfelt than 'Naked Bunyip Dancing'. The Latter is a great read aloud book Kearsten says: I liked this – it's a fast read, and contains some profound thoughts from a 14 yr old boy. no reviews | add a review
