Mr. Young, John Youngs father is always trying to look and act younger than his age. He spends lots of time and effort to appear younger. He often acted like a big baby, especially when he became ill. He bought a drink called "ELIXA DE YOOF" and the next morning Mr. Young woke up as a baby but still had his Dad-face. He did not like people treating him like a baby at all, but could only communicate as an infant. The next morning he woke up and it had been a dream. John Young told his father "Go and look in the mirror" that is where he saw he had grown his first grey hair. It was a humorous story, dealing with a father that is obviously going through a mid-life crisis. This book level is k-3 with no diversity. ( )

What would happen if your father turned himself into an infant over night? What if he can not reverse it? What do you do? How will you communicate?

John Young's dad looks young for his age and does his best to keep it that way. He wears his hair and dresses in a way to make him look years younger than he really his. He takes pills and such to do so too. One day he drinks a mystery drink called ELIXA DE YOOF. Turns out this drink had some magic behind it because it made him young. Extremely young. John's father, Mr. Young, is now an infant! His wife, Mrs. Young, takes care of baby Mr. Young and when people question it, she tells them it is someone else's infant. The next day when he wakes up, he screams and realizes he has a gray hair. This is his first gray hair and he will realize that he can not look young forever.

The inside of both back and front covers have small colorful objects that relate to babies such as bottles rattles, trains, bears, and balls. This tells the readers that this book will have to do something with a baby. Turns out this book has a twist and you will have to read it to find out what it is. Super simple to read this book. The picture on the book's cover is hidden inside of the book and makes the reader have their "Ah-ha" moment.

Theme:
Acceptance. The dad is gettinf older as time grow with him, but he does not accept it. He tries his hardest to make his apparence to look young. He even acts young whenever he gets suck and throws a fit & heads straight to bed.

He later learns that he needs to accept himself and what age he is. He does so by waking up & finding a gray hair in his head. He reflects and starts to act his own age. ( )
