Oh man, even more drama! Massimo is a total jerkbag (since when do boys get caught up on their past girlfriends?) and Dave the Laugh has gone gallivanting off with some other girl. And then - just to make things even more ridiculous - Massimo gets over his pining girl AND Robbie returns. Georgia's reaction is perfectly normal: she runs away, whilst blaming it on Sven's furry trousers. Sometimes avoidance is totally the best tactic when it comes to boys, so I fully support Georgia's slightly dramatic reaction. Now the question becomes who will come chasing after her?
The books in this hilarious series (American titles):

Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging
On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex-God
Knocked Out by My Nunga Nungas
Dancing in My Nuddy Pants
Away Laughing on a Fast Camel
Then He Ate My Boy Entrancers
Startled by His Furry Shorts
Love is a Many Trousered Thing
? (It's the series that never ends!)

Georgia Nicolson is a self-absorbed, British teenager who keeps a diary detailing her life in all its glorious angst(think Bridget Jones for teens). Her parents are mad and her friends just do not realize that Georgia is indeed the center of the known universe. She's got a cat who is half Scottish wildcat and a little sister who is only partially potty-trained. Georgia thinks about boys show more constantly and treats them kind of like Lays potato chips (you can't kiss just one).

She accidentally shaves off her eyebrows, goes to a party dressed as a stuffed olive, and has problems with nipple control. Nevertheless, she manages to attract the attention of Robbie the Sex-God, Dave the Laugh (who coins many funny phrases like piddly-diddly department and away laughing on a fast camel), and Masimo the Dreamboat. Georgia suffers from a severe case of what Dave the Laugh calls "the Cosmic Horn" and can't seem to settle down with just one boyfriend.

Georgia gets herself into one hilarious predicament after another. While this series isn't exactly classic literature, I dare you to read it without laughing out loud.

This is a very reliable series. I always enjoy reading about Georgia and her mates. I like how the books are written journal style and usually take place over a pretty short period of time (a few weeks usually).

Rennison maintains an amazing consistency in the way Georgia is protrayed and in the way she and her friends speak. These books are a lot of fun.
Georgia is once again in the oven of luurve, the bakery of pain, he cakeshop of agony...you get the picture...due to her spontaneous ultimatum to Masimo. As Georgia waits with impatientocity for Masimo's answer she continues through her tortuous lessons at Stalag Fourteen, rehearsals of MacUseless, the forehead staring campaign against Wet Lindsey who is sporting new octopus tentacles in the form of hair extensions, hopping firsters and sneak attacks by Angus and Gordy.

This most recent entry in the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson does not fail to be var, var amusant. The conflagration on the final night of MacUseless was particularly laughable. A couple other mentions is that one cannot help but feel bad for Dave the Laugh as it appears show more he is trying quite hard to just be "mates" with Georgia who just doesn't seem to get what's going on with him and the fact that if I were Georgia I would NEVER forgive Spazzy Jazzy for neglecting her status as Radio Jas and keeping the secret that she did at the end of the story. All in all this book has left me on the rack of curiousity as to what will happen in the upcoming book. Oh, and I can't wait to read about the Viking nuptuals and how furry shorts fit in to it. show less
erlack. It looks like Rennison-sensei has once again answered the call of the horn and took a trip back to loonland. Or something. Anyway. This is the gagillionth (7th or 8th) Georgia Nicolson book and it's still funny. How does she do it?

so i'm going to be using words from the book. yup. sorry.

In this installation of the fabby and mad world of Georgia, she is once again caught in the oven of love or whatever between the two boys: Dave the Laugh, Masimo the Pizza Eater S.G.. It is in the stars that she belongs with D the L and that he is the best male on the face of the earth and in history but since Georgia is hopelessly stupid she does not realize this and is obsessed with Masimo and his motorcycle and whatever.

Her friends are still show more funny. Except for Ellen, who has no reason to exist, except for saying Um, and er, and I mean for the whole population of the earth. And Georgia clearly would prefer it if she didn't. exist that is.

Also her school is putting on the play MacUseless and periodically taking away their crazy viking/bison horns.

People in England are mad crazy.

Read it because it's funny, and if you read it in public you can work on your Aurelius stoicnosity by trying not to laugh. and completely fail at it.

A strong dose of Chick-Lit--British style--and one of the more popular genre series available--'Startled' is the seventh book in a series that is nearing twelve in all. Admittedly, I found myself laughing out loud at the self-indulgent heroine who continually gets herself into one predicament after another. Rennison does well to develop all the characters including the various antagonists and supporting roles. Admittedly, not really my cup of tea, but I do dare anyone to read 'Startled' without giggling out loud! Recommended for Grades 8-11.

Number 7 in the continuing saga of Georgia Nicolson. I like the fact that you can read each of these books in any way that suits your reading style at the time (i.e. easily all in one sitting or bits & pieces here & there & not have to think too hard to remember what's going on). My favorite ongoing visual is the Ace Gang doing the Viking Disco Inferno Dance, esp. with the horns. The Cosmic Horn reference makes me giggle too.

Shut up, brain. Shut up. "
