Old world literature, and certainly vedic astrology, tends to the personal. Man's anthropomorphism of his experience is a lost art of fleshing out intangible feelings and ideas. The ancient sages knew well the limits of language, where words fail to capture the meanings more felt than thought. Here is a story of old that binds together the lore of the grahas, integrating their meanings into a memorable report.

As with all translations of sanskrit literature, there is risk of not appealing to the modern vogue. This requires sacrifice on the reader's part. You will probably only read it once, not learn anything that a 'manual' on astrology couldn't tell you, but you'd feel all the better for it - as one does going to bed on a full stomach. It will fortify your understanding of vedic astrology and guard the integrity of the tradition. Its also quite entertaining - probably more for those already familiar in the field. ( )
