Bullying is bad, mmmkay. And it's not just the girls at school who bully her, but her own mom. No wonder the poor girl snapped.
This was a good example of why I tend to avoid rereading books. I originally read this in 1980 (or so), and it wasn't nearly as good this time around.

Very jerky writing, I felt like I was being pulled from one "technical" report to another, with only a very little narrative used to move the actual story forward.
An awkward, unpopular teenager has telekinetic powers.

Apart from a handful of iconic images, it's pretty bad. I think they decided the genre/tone of each scene by picking it out of a hat.

There were some good bonus features in the version I bought, with interviews of the stars, director, and art director.
