There aren't enough books on the modern celebration of certain holidays. There are way too many about that whole pilgrim's PR nonsense. But not enough about what Thanksgiving means for most people: friends show more and family and too much delicious food. Friedman provides many helpful hints for filling one's plate and eating, but also covers what the family does before the meal in preparation, and what gets done after the meal, with no mention of televised anything or rigid gender roles. Not a book I expected to be impressed with, just another delightful surprise in this project show less

"Thanksgiving Rules" is a humorous story about the chaotic holiday. The main character, Percy Isaac Gifford, lists the rules of Thanksgiving to make it the best Thanksgiving. With the most important part, the food, Percy goes through the rules of actions what have to happen before eating and after eating. With getting dressed in Mother's best, helping Dad with the cleaning, greeting friends and family with a short and sweet "hi", and ending the feast with a kiss on the cheek to all of the guests. Percy's rules are entertaining and demonstrate the craziness of Thanksgiving. This book is entertaining to people of all ages and relevant to the celebration of Thanksgiving traditions. I recommend this book for entertainment during the holiday show more season. show less
"Thanksgiving Rules" is a cute rhyming book with a lot of very good illustrations. In this book a little boy, Percy Isaac Gifford, explains in detail what you should do to have the perfect Thanksgiving Day. He even gives ten rules to follow to make sure your Thanksgiving is extra special.
