The pictures are actually quite lovely, as well as cute. The animals' true shapes and characters were not sacrificed to make them more human.
I'm so glad my library system bought a copy of this - we need to help children realize what an interconnected, small world, we share.
I can't decide which page I like best. The kangaroos dancing is impressive. The goannas wondering what to cook hits my empathy buttons. But the kookaburras writing riddle books is probably the most perfect.

This is a creative way to teach younger children about numbers. The illustrations are a bit old-fashioned but are creative and interesting to look at. It is also an informative guide to some of the unique creatures that inhabit Australia.
A creative take on the alphabet. All of the letters are accomplished using clever alliteration. The illustrations provide much to talk about and have many pictures of things starting with the letter being described.
I remember this from childhood. A simple counting book with alliteration, bright illustrations, and Australian creatures (the eponymous wombats, kangaroos, echidnas, goallas, etc.).
A cute and sometimes funny counting book with colorful illustrations of Australian animals.
