What a terrific book. Egan is a great writer. Her world-building is excellent. You really get to see and understand what the world of Ivory is like. Her dialog and characterizations are spot on. Every character is consistent with who they are supposed to be. This is the third and final book of the trilogy and I really wish there was another book coming. Egan became a scriptwriter for TV series (e.g., Dark Angel) so I doubt she will ever come back to SF/fantasy and that is a great loss because she is fine talent.

Guilt-Edged Ivory is a murder mystery which unfolds against the backdrop of the capital. It's a bit more sombre than Two-Bit Heroes. (It doesn't help than several of the main characters are facing uncomfortable pressures from their Houses on the subject of marriage and children.) So it wasn't quite as fun but it was just as engaging, and I love Theodora.

I wish there were more books about her.
