Beautiful writing and compelling theme of being attentive to nature, to avian life, and even to individual birds within flocks. Haupt describes the appearance, rituals and idiosyncracies of a variety of birds common to her native Pacific Northwest. Very inspiring for a backyard birder like me. ( )

This book brought me in to a peaceful period in my life during a stressful time. Just like the title rare exquiste moments with nature. Well written. ( )

about birds, birders and environmental warnings; hoped it would be about birds but too much on the warnings; the bird bits are good.

Sparrows, cormorants, starlings -- these are birds we see everyday without actually looking at them. Haupt's delightful little book will give you a fresh perspective on your world and the winged creatures that inhabit it. A gem.
