What a clusterfuck this book was! I swear I have never hated a character that I loved from a previous book as much as I hated Luc here. He was incredibly mean to Alyssa and demeaning to her too, there were an awful lot of times that I just thought about giving up the whole thing but I am so freaking glad that I powered through! The story was just as compelling and heartbreaking as you can imagine and I just can't get over the fact the Shayla Black's writing gets to me every single time. Freaking hot and steamy sex scenes coupled with adorable scenes and gut wrenching sad scenes, this book will make anyone lose their minds.
This was a nice lightish addition to this series. There were some bits that really peed me off (non-communication when it would have made things sooo much easier if people just spoke to each other). The amount of liberties which Alyssa allowed Tyler to take (even after she & Luc were edging their way to commitment) just didn't feel right to me. It seemed to take on overtones of 'prove you trust me' with no compromise from her side (even after she admitted to herself that she'd have suspected the worst if the shoe was on the other foot). It just led to me kind of feeling that neither of them deserved the other.

This story is the very definition of dysfunctional relationships. I have strived with how to write this review without my head blowing up all over the house. Luc is mostly to blame but Alyssa has part of the blame as well. Luc’s insecurity about being sterile is his biggest drawback. He is so focused on having the perfect life he can’t see that life is never perfect. We can only do the best we are able to and find the happiness that will get each of us through the struggles that everyday life throws at us. He fights his attraction to Alyssa because of her profession refusing to accept that she is more than her stripping. He can’t conceive that she will be a good mother and wife because she has done what was necessary to provide show more food and shelter for herself from a very young age. It is heartbreaking to see him make the same mistakes over and over again, not seeing that he is hurting those around him because he can’t admit that he can’t have children. It isn't as if there are ways around that problem. Modern medicine has made it much easier for a couple to have a child. Plus he can’t bring himself to confess to Alyssa that he might be sterile.

Don’t get me wrong Lucas Traverson can be a wonderful person. He is caring, loving and gentle. He is never mean or rude to the women that work at Sexy Sirens. He is one of those men that really love women. He is a wonderful chef and an intelligent individual that has worked hard to achieve his dreams. He goes out of his way to help Alyssa make her restaurant a success. He worries about her safety even before he marries her. He stays away when she tells him to even though he longs to be close to her.

Alyssa Devereaux has been betrayed on a very fundamental level. She didn't let it spot her from getting an education and making something out of her life. She is a hard worker and a determined individual. She is also extremely independent which causes some problems with her safety at the beginning of the story. Alyssa is also very, very distrustful of men. Part of this distrust is seeing married men coming into her club paying for lap dances and making passes at the dancers. Other reason is the betrayal by her mother and step brother. My biggest problem with Alyssa is that she is at times so passive aggressive. She sends annulment papers to Luc and then hopes that he will come rushing to her to stop it. She allows Tyler to touch her and kiss her but tells him she doesn't love him even knowing he is in love with her. She is then upset that Luc thinks that she is or has been sleeping with Tyler.

As you can tell this story has stirred up some strong emotions in me. I guess that is a mark of a good story, even if those emotions aren't positive. This story is also has three very despicable men that are out to kill or hurt Alyssa. Two of them almost rape Alyssa so for those sensitive to this type of thing be warned. Things do work out in the end but it is literally at the last few chapters of the book before they both work out their problems. Finally this is a Shayla Black story so expect lots of really smoking hot sex. Luc and Alyssa will make you sweat when they are romping in the bed, on the couch, on the floor or against a wall.

Delicious was Shayla Black’s #3 book in her Wicked Lovers series.

About the book (Cover):

Alyssa desperate for more.

And that’s just the way she wants it.

Fulfilling a promise, Luc is the guest chef for Alyssa’s restaurant debut. Luc’s desire for her explodes show more when he realizes he isn’t the only man desperate to have her. But one of the others is deadly. And that’s not the end of Alyssa’s secrets…which are as dark and mysterious and enticing as her fantasies.

Review:

Ms. Black did NOT disappoint….ONCE AGAIN.

Of course following Deke and Kimber’s book, we see the appearance of Luc again. Now…. *heaves out a breath at Luc in this book…and not in a good way for the most part of it.* Luc…his view on strippers really irked me good in this story. Luc here….makes good on a deal he had struck with Alyssa, the owner of a strip club, Sexy Sirens, whom we met in the first book with Jack and Morgan.

What was nice about this book is we get to not only get mention of the previous books' characters, but we actually get to see interaction with them. We get to read the hot and heavy sex scenes that the author has mastered, the suspense that keeps this plot moving effortlessly, and characters with depth and reality to them. I was constantly trying to figure out the mystery of who was stalking Alyssa, and the author kept me guessing up until the end.

The sex scenes alone were enough to keep me going through this book. The heat radiated from the pages and left you panting along with the characters. The author knows sexy and can write it with ease.

Out of it all, would have to give this 4 out of 5 stars for a good read.

After reading the previous book in this series, "Decadent", I looked forward to this series a lot. Luc was so very delicious in that one, highly preferable to Deke. Plus, in "Decadent" we (sorta) see Luc's first real encounter with Alyssa, and wasn't that a steamy, teasing intro to their own story?

Unfortunately, "Delicious" was a bit of disappointment. Somehow, sweet and rational Luc turned into judgmental, idiotic Luc. If I could have reached through the pages and slapped him, I would have. Repeatedly. He did in this book exactly what I hated about Deke in the previous book: he fixated on some overly dramatized, diva-esque personal demon and acted like a giant, moronic toe rag.

Yes, it's a spicy, sexy book. But the actual plot and show more romance bit was greatly irritating. show less

Shayla Black is still one of my very favorite authors, but this book didn't work for me. Luc was fantastic in 'Decadent' and I could hardly wait for this book to be released. Unfortunately, in this book his head is so far up his ass that it made the book almost unreadable. The sex scenes are as scorching as ever, so at least there's that. But overall 'Delicious' was a very big disappointment.
