It’s really hard to find a book dedicated to Rep Weave. Even getting my hands on this one proved to be somewhat of a mission, finally locating one from The Mannings about a year ago. When the book arrived, I found it filled with beautiful colored photos of inspirational rep weave projects throughout (29 in all).

The book begins with a summary of what Swedish rep weave is vs. New Rep. Winding a warp, calculating materials for a project, threading the blocks and tying on are covered with easy to understand directions, supplemented with photos galore. Preparation of the warp and loom once threaded, in addition designing with blocks for rep is also covered.

Weaving Rep in 2, 3, 4, 6 and 8 block designs are included in this book. The projects include table linens, rugs and wall hangings. Maysville carpet warp is the primary warp used with setts ranging from 16 -40 EPI (mostly 30 EPI) and I did notice one project woven with 20/3 linen warp sett at 50 EPI.

Not having a lot of other Rep books to compare this one to, I’d have to say this book is quite inspirational and also very educational to someone seeking reference to this weave structure. Honestly, it’s just fun to turn the pages and view the awesome woven items! ( )
