This is part of a two-volume series of true stories from China's history and has the look and feel of a storybook, with illustrations on each page done by various artists. Both books start off with a brief introduction and timeline of Chinese History. Each story is followed by a section titled "Learn More" with a few paragraphs of additional information. This would be a great supplement to a study of Chinese history, although there is enough context given that each story can be enjoyed on its own. The reading age was listed as 10-13 on Amazon, which felt appropriate. Overall, a beautifully done series!
