An informative book that combines poetry and interesting facts about the egret. This book could be used in a science lesson or a reading lesson. ( )

The book is perfect for children (and adults) who want to learn more about the Great Egret. These delightful birds are seen often around water and are beautiful to observe. The photographs by Jason Stemple mesh well with Jane Yolen's simple, but precise poetry. I recommend this book for students who are trying to learn about these magnificent birds. The poetry captures the essence of the birds, the photographs and coloration for each page are perfect, and each page opposite the poetry there are the scientific facts behind these birds. ( )
