Summary: Aaron has a goal to grow his hair out like his dad's. It gets longer and longer. Eventually it gets so long that everyday is a bad hair day! Aaron becomes angry and yells, "I Hate you!", hurts his hair's feelings and it runs away. All through the house and town, Arron's hair is creating all sorts of mischief as it continues to run away from Aaron. Eventually Aaron ends up returning home for dinner as he was suddenly drenched with sadness and remorse for having hurt his hair's feelings that he in turn missed so very much. His hair heard this and comes back to Aaron.

Personal Reaction: Very silly and fun to read to young children. The story is entertaining and brings humor to a serious matter of the importance of being kind.

Extension Ideas: Art project, take each kids picture and have them use yarn to make crazy long hair. Read during emotions, mannerisms, families.

Book Summary: Aaron grows his hair long like his dad. One day while combing it he has trouble, he yells “HAIR! I HATE YOU!” So his hair runs away. First it’s on the baby, then it attacks a lady, then a man, and finally a policeman. After that Aaron chases it off a statue then looses it. That night while eating supper, Aaron says he wishes that he had his hair back, and said “I LIKE MY HAIR.” So the hair came back.

Personal Reaction: I really love this book. It is really cute. I read it to a group of children once, and they loved it, they really got into the story.

Extension Activities:
1. Write a story about one time that your hair would not do what you wanted it to and you got made at your hair.
2. Draw a picture of yourself with crazy hair.

I can see where this book could be humorous, but it just didn't do anything for me. ( )

Aaron grows his hair long to look like his father. But the hair is unruly, and one day while combing it, Aaron says "Hair, I hate you!" Suddenly the hair jumps off Aaron's head and runs away! With Aaron in frantic pursuit, it attaches itself to people and things all over the neighborhood, resulting in a huge traffic jam. Aaron is finally reunited with his hair--but not quite in the way he or his family planned!
