This is the story of Lavinia Esposito, aka Vinnie or Vin for short. She's teaches criminology at a college but here is the problem she does nothing the way a criminology would. She acts like a stereotypical "good, helpless, Italian woman" whenever she's around the "big, strong men". I did give this three stars though because the writing was fun and if she could have a stronger female character I probably would have given it four stars.Definitely has possibilities for future novels if Griffin can work on the heroine and tighten the story a little.

Professor of criminology inherits her aunt's house and a strange package is delivered and thinking it's drugs or explosives calls the bomb squad. It's not -- it's gems. Shortly after that her house is ransacked and she discovers that her aunt had hidden more gems and a mysterious man wants to rent a room from her while a state trooper keeps dropping by to check on her. Usual chick-lit mystery.
Romantic cozy.
