Not a bad book. As usual there are quite a few storylines flying around the main plot, that Gillespie gets shot at. My favorite is Kevin's story, though like the rest of the subplots it wasn't the happiest of plots.

That's one of the parts of the novel that got a bit tedious. It was so much of a downer, with not much of it not only not having happiness in it, but it doesn't even really have much humor in it. I believe that a novel needs to have a balance between the serious and lighter parts of a story. Fatal truth had great serious parts, but at every turn that's all there was.

Another slight point about this novel is that I never quite got the sense that it took place in San Francisco. It could have taken place in LA, Boston, or New show more York, New York (except for the star Inspector badges).

Any okay book and an interesting mystery, just not one of my top ten picks.
