"John Adams was an American patriot and Founding Father, and Abigail, his wife, was his most trusted adviser for more than fifty years. While John served in both Continental Congresses, Abigail managed their farm within earshot of cannon fire. She later advised her husband through amusing letters as he served as our first ambassador to Great Britain. And when John was elected America's first vice president and our second president, Abigail vowed to be his 'fellow Laborer'--and she steadfastly lived up to her promise."--Amazon.com.… (more)

Personal Review:
I thought this book was very informative. The illustrations are of the time period of the 1700’s which can help students understand the era. I liked how it incorporated both John and Abigail.

Classroom Extension:
1. Make a Wig...Give students a paper bag, scissors, glue and cotton balls. Have them cut out a "hat" (keep the bottom) then glue on cotton balls.
2. Write A Letter...Have the students write a letter to John and Abigail, then use coffee grounds to make the paper look old.

This was a pretty good book. I liked it because it told the life story of John and Abigail Adams through a story instead of just stating facts. This is great for children because it doesn’t bore the children and they get to read a story instead of just historical facts. Also the pictures depicted the time period very well. They showed how people dressed and it is great for students to learn how people dressed and what things looked like back in that time. Them main theme in the book is to show the life of John and Abigail Adams through a story. ( )
