Another Mr & Mrs North mystery. Once again Pam sticks her neck out and almost loses it. When the author Anthony Payne is murdered, Pam and Jerry North get swept up in solving who among the many suspects is guilty. Mr. Payne is just as his name says to many others in this cast. ( )

Book description
Pam and Jerry North, book publishers, throw a party attended by a disliked novelist who is shot after the party. Murdered man's ex-wife tells Pam she saw someone across the street, limping. Various possible suspects are his other wives, a bookstore owner and an actor in the novelist's play, who was fired.
