I picked this book up expecting to feel brain cells dying as I read it. I was very wrong; I can see why my students enjoy this series so much. It's very well written (albeit extremely simplistic) and interesting. It was an extremely quick read and is educational, to boot!

Another "Jack & Annie" read aloud to my daughter. This time our heroes travel to Ice Age Europe and encounter Cro-Magnon people, a wooly mammoth, and a sabretooth tiger, all while wearing their bathing suits! Brrr...
This is another fun, well-written, and historically informative story for children and the grownups who read to them.
I really enjoyed “Sunset of the Sabertooth” out of the Magic Tree House series. Mary Pope Osborne does a fantastic job of including facts and history into a fun and exciting story. In this particular book, the author includes accurate information about the last Ice Age, Cro-Magnons, wooly mammoths, and saber-tooth tigers while Jack and Annie are on a mission to help Morgan. The book has a very fast pace, and the plot never slips into anything boring or monotonous. Although this cook is a chapter book, it is a very quick and easy read which would be good for students just moving up to the level of chapter books. I also enjoyed that the book had occasional illustrations throughout the book. The illustrations help to break up the text show more and also allow the reader to paint a better picture in their mind of what is going on. The main idea of the book is to tell the story of yet another adventure Jack and Annie had out of their magic tree house. show less
This book is great to use in the classroom. The main idea of this book is using your imagination and exploration, but at the same time the chapter book is informational. This series is very cute and entertaining, I loved it! Jack and Annie go on another crazy adventure where they meet woolly mammoths, cave people and the sabertooth tiger. The book covers what the Ice Age looked and felt like as well as the culture of the people who lived during that time period. The story is exciting and even includes pictures. I loved reading these books when I was growing up.
Such a great adventure! This time, we head back to prehistoric times where we meet Cro-Magnon people, a Sabertooth Tiger and even a Wooly mammoth. Brr!!! Don't forget to put your reindeer skin on! Definitely not a swimsuit adventure ; )
This book, Sunset of the Sabertooth, is a huge hit in the third and fourth grade classrooms. A lot of students are really engaging in the Magic Tree House novels. This book for example, shows a lot of great detail and imagery for the students to unravel. I also think that the students love these books is because the characters are about their age and going through the same developmental changes, therefore, the students can relate to the minds of the characters in the novels. I would have my students create their own, Magic Tree House story about an adventure that they want to go on, or create an imaginary adventure.
This is a great book to read to children. They love hearing all of the different adventures that Jack and Annie have together. Children learn all kinds of things from the Magic Tree House series that could benefit them in the classroom.
