Description

This book is the third volume in a series compiled from Bible records originally collected by members of the Delaware chapters of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The majority of the family records deal with the late 1700s through the early 1900s, although a scattering of records extend beyond this period. Some records are sketchy, and simply list the date of the event and the names of the principal people involved; others are more detailed and include where it occurred, who show more officiated at the event, and, in the case of death, the cause. Many entries include a description of the origin of the records, such as the owner of the original Bible, where it was printed, the name of the publisher, and by whom the records were copied. The records are listed alphabetically by the principal family name; in addition to marriage, birth and death information, newspaper clippings, handwritten notes attached to or written on the pages, and personal letters found in the Bibles are also transcribed. Some entries are supplemented by data from the author's personal files. A full-name index adds to the value of this work. show less
