Daisy has been content running her bar, the Honky Tonk, until she literally collides into Jarod McElroy. From that point on neither one can stop thinking about the other.
Jarod's attraction to Daisy is immediate but once he realized she is a barmaid, he refuses to get involved. Daisy has trust issues due to a previous abusive relationship, and tends to keep men at arms length. The fact Jarod is only in town temporarily to care for his ailing uncle Emmett doesn't help matters.
Uncle Emmett has Alzheimer's and believes Jarod and Daisy to be married. Or does he? Daisy has her suspensions that it's all a hoax but can't prove it. So for Uncle Emmett's sake, they pretend to indeed be married.
I enjoyed the story at the beginning, but then about show more halfway through it started to fizzle out a bit for me. There didn't seem to be any kind of deep connection between Jarod and Daisy. Yes there was sexual tension but that's about it. show less

I love this book! I adore a good cowboy romance and this was a good one! It had me laughing and crying...I went through a whole range of emotions.
I completely fell in love with these characters. They were a great "down home" bunch and I must say that I thought Chigger was great. She made me laugh out loud everytime her character came up.
If you enjoy a good country romance then this is one to check out. I am really looking forward to the next one in this series Hell, Yeah....I think it's going to be good!
And is that cover hot or what!?

I LOVE THIS BAR by Carolyn Brown is a delightful Romance set in modern day rural Texas. It is well written with depth and detail. It has charm, character, humor, romance, sweet sensuality, and rural charm. The characters are charming, and witty. The hero is handsome, charming, hard working, cares for his family and friends. The heroine is charming, cute, gutsy, hard working and cares for her friends and family. When the two meet sparks fly although they don't want them too.The secondary characters are just as charming and help carry the story along. This is a delightful romantic story of love, caring for your family and neighbors. A must read. I would highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy romance, humor, rural charm and show more gutsy characters. This book was received for review and details can be found at Sourcebooks and My Book Addiction and More. show less
great story. More on the innocent side than I am used to, but still really good.
A wonderful not much of a book. The story of the Honky Tonk Bar, Daisy O'Dell, and Jarod McElroy was the perfect accompaniment for holiday cooking.
