This book is a good jungle survival romance. The two leads have trouble with trust issues but find common ground in the love and death of their siblings. They also help each other survive drug dealers and the deadly jungle. The story line that began in Dark Deceptions continues here with the troubling realization that someone in the A-TAC organization is sabotaging their missions. The person and the reasons behind it are unclear and will continue in future books in this series. Another good read by Dee Davis.
When I read a book a little outside my usual range, and I'm not thrilled with it, I have a hard time deciding how much is me and how much is the book.I kept thinking that if I could just put on the same "just go with it" mindset I do when it comes to movies,I might have really enjoyed it.There was the kick-ass woman and the guy who comes to her rescue, both of them shooting people right and left, jumping over waterfalls, making their way through the jungle. When they stop moving, the inevitable happens, this being a romance novel.I mean, what's not to like?As it was, I didn't find the characters (major or minor) to be behaving as I thought they should have in the circumstances. I thought there were a few too many coincidences, and the show more misuse of technology bugged me, even when the same things wouldn't have flowed right by me in a movie. In the end, I was entertained, but this book wasn't for me. show less
After surviving a horrible childhood, a few years in a Columbian prison, and more time under the thumb of a crime lord, Madeline Reynard becomes the rescue subject of A-Tac (American Tactical Intelligence Command) – an off the books arm of the CIA. She has information that can help the CIA, hurt the Columbian crime group, and may just get her killed unless A-Tac succeeds in their mission. The A-Tac team is comprised of several highly-skilled professionals (covert operations, IT, ordnance, communications, etc.). The author reveals enough about each A-Tac member to get a feel for their personality as well as their importance to the team.

The person most involved in Madeline’s rescue is Drake Flynn. He’s the confident and capable guy show more anyone would want on their side. Even though he has questions about her connections to known criminals he keeps the mission his priority. My favorite part of the novel was the escape of Drake and Madeline from the jungle to a safe house a day’s travel away on foot and small boat. The action is fast-paced and had me turning pages long past my bedtime.

Davis’s action scenes are exciting. Her descriptive writing placed me in the drama which I loved because sometimes when I’m reading suspense novels I get lost in the details. Davis had me following right through the heart-stopping conclusion. If you like your romantic suspense heavy on the suspense I recommend Dangerous Desires.

"Dangerous Desires" is the second book in the A-Tac team series and after reading it I'm definetly going to have to get the first book in this romantic suspense series - "Dark Deceptions" as well as look for the third book. I've read a couple of other books by Ms Davis and enjoyed them (two books in the Last Chance trilogy), and this one has the same type of suspense and tension, and is just as enjoyable

Man this author sure made sure you kept buying her books.. The loose end that was left in the first book was still left open in this one. Even though there was a great surprise in this one.. Another good read and it shows by the reader wanting to get to the next book to see if the "loose end" is wrapped up.. Ok now on to the next one..
This is Drake's story. Drake is stranded in Columbia after a mission and sent to rescue and bring to Washington Madeline who has been working for a crime lord. She has a mind of her own and is determined she will be better off not going to Washington. Another good story by Dee Davis.
