A classicly plotted murder mystery set in 18thC London and surrounding area. The protagonist is a Journeyman (senior apprentice) to the famous furniture designer/maker Thomas Chippendale, and when his friend and fellow Journeyman is found dead with four of his fingers missing he embarks on a mission to discover who killed him. The wealth of period detail make this book interesting reading, but the storyline is fairly pedestrian.
