A fairly horrific slash killer story that I expected to have a SF solution but which turned out to have a slightly implausible cold war solution instead. For me this focused a bit too much on graphic horror rather than plot. This was apparently made into a TV series adapted by the great Robert Holmes and directed by Douglas Camfield so I will try to check that out.
